The U.S. Supreme Court declaring marriage equality in June 2015 was a monumental decision in our history. However, Lois knows that the fight for LGBTQ+ rights is far from over. In fact, the conservative Supreme Court and laws passed by the Florida legislature have shown us why Congress needs to act to enshrine these rights into law.
As a member of the LGBTQ Equality Caucus, Lois has a proven record protecting LGBTQ+ Americans. Lois is an original cosponsor of the Equality Act, which would create the most comprehensive LGBTQ+ protections in our country by including sexual orientation and gender identity as a protected class in employment, housing, education, credit, jury duty, and all other aspects of government. She works to protect LGBTQ+ Americans in all aspects of their life, including serving as a member of the LGBTQ+ Aging Taskforce, which focuses on ways to protect LGBTQ+ seniors. Lois was also an original co-sponsor of the Ruthie and Connie LGBT Elder Americans Act, named after her own champion constituent, which addresses the challenges in senior communities. She will continue to fight for equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community here in South Florida and across the country.
This is why she is endorsed by the Florida LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus, the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council, and the Human Rights Campaign.
